I accomplished this by using meshes, gradients, different types of blends and of course masking. Here&#8217;s how I did it.<\/p>\n<p>First I created an outline of the basic shape off of a photo I took of an example product. I used that first shape I made along with the pathfinder tool and new paths to make the appearance of the seal across the top. This makes it appear less pristine and more realistic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.35-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-511\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-03-12 at 11.17.35 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.35-PM-233x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.35-PM-233x300.png 233w, https:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.35-PM.png 403w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally, I made the edges appear sealed by creating a lot of dots around the edge of the bag with the blend tool, blurring them, then finally setting their blend mode to screen at 15%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.54-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-512\" title=\"Screen shot 2011-03-12 at 11.17.54 PM\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coastalvectors.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Screen-shot-2011-03-12-at-11.17.54-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"172\" height=\"283\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With all the \u00a0layers combined, it makes the packaging look a bit more realistic, albeit not photorealistic.
